Bodywork is a general term for a wide variety of hands on therapies including massage. This include various forms of hands on manipulative therapies as well as energy work. Massage and bodywork is the primary form of complementary and alternative healthcare in this country.
This club is for people interested in learning, experiencing, and promoting massage and bodywork in Rossmoor.
Today most residents either have therapists come to their homes or have to find facilities outside of Rossmoor. Finding the right therapist for your needs is very difficult because each works differently with different people and for different problems. At times you may need the services of different therapists to fix a specific problem. Much like medical specialists, bodyworkers have different talents and skills and to make things even more confusing the best therapists often take training from different sources and combine them into a personalized form of therapy. This is why it is best to actually experience the individual practitioner's work to see who is best for you are your current issues.
The club plans to promote bodywork and massage in the following ways:
Sponsor periodic bodywork sessions where residents can come learn about and receive work from different practitioners to get work and compare different styles of bodywork and find therapist who can best help them with their specific problems.
Provide access to therapy for residents on fixed incomes because in most cases this type of therapy is not covered by insurance. To do that the events we sponsor will be provide free sessions
Provide a forum for amateur and student residents to offer there services to others.
Provide information and education to the residents because the nature of the wide varieties of available forms of bodywork and the complexity of laws and regulations to protect the public is confusing.
Maintain a voluntary registry of therapists to insure that the businesses and people who come into their homes or practice on Rossmoor property are properly licensed, insured and are operating in conformance with Walnut Creek and California regulations. The club will maintain the records and post a list on this website. Businesses outside of Rossmoor that provide massage and bodywork and monitored by the city and county to insure that the practitioners who work in the establishment are properly licensed. This registry would substitute for that function. For that reason it will be restricted to therapists who live and work in Rossmoor. Therapists who do hands on demonstrations at Rossmoor are also eligible. It will not apply to therapists from hospice, John Muir, Kaiser and any other large healthcare organization because they do their own internal verification. This is not intended to be a Yellow Pages of local therapies because the focus of the club is to bring bodywork to Rossmoor.
Therapists in the club registry will be allowed to put business cards and professional literature out at public events.
Lobby GRF and the fitness center to get facilities for massage and bodywork.
